Quality Inspector – (Fiber Optics)
About the role:
Our client is looking for an experienced Quality Inspector specialising in fiber optic network deployments to oversee and ensure the quality of home connections and civil works. This role is critical in maintaining high standards across fiber optic projects, from excavation to installation and testing.
Start: October 2024
Location: Amsterdam
Rate: Negotiable
Duration: Freelance 2-3 Years with potential to extend.
Responsibilities:
Fiber Optic Installations - Inspect fiber optic connections within homes, verifying compliance with technical standards and installation best practices, including tasks such as fiber blowing, splicing, and HAS (Home Access Solution).
Adherence to Standards - Ensure all work aligns with relevant fiber optic standards and the client's specifications, particularly KPN standards if applicable.
Quality Assurance Testing - Perform or oversee testing using OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and Power Meter equipment to evaluate fiber signal strength, attenuation, and overall network performance.
Reporting & Documentation - Compile comprehensive digital reports that may include daily logs, quality control checks, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and any corrective actions taken. You'll also contribute to initial and ongoing quality assessments for all project phases.
Homeowner Interaction - For home connections, interact with residents, explaining the work being done and ensuring minimal disruption while maintaining high customer service standards. Conversational Dutch is highly preferred.
Civil Works Inspection is beneficial but not essential - Oversee the excavation and underground works, ensuring that all trenching, duct installation, and reinstatement activities comply with municipal regulations, client specifications, and traffic management plans.
Requirements:
Fiber Optics Experience - Experience in fiber optic network deployments, particularly in FTTH (Fiber to the Home) or FTTP (Fiber to the Premises) environments.
Technical Expertise - Proficiency with OTDR, Power Meters, and other fiber testing tools is highly desirable. Additionally, familiarity with KPN network specifications is also highly valued.
Civil Works Oversight - Strong understanding of civil engineering principles related to utility installation, trenching, and cable ductwork. Experience with traffic management and safety compliance for civil works is key.
Safety Regulations - In-depth knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to both civil works and fiber optics installations.
Reporting Proficiency - Ability to generate precise, structured reports using digital platforms, with a focus on data accuracy and thoroughness in documenting quality assessments.
Dutch Language Skills - While fluency is not mandatory, the ability to converse in Dutch will be highly advantageous due to interactions with local residents and authorities.
