Head of Housing
Reporting to the Service Director for Housing and Strategy, you will provide strong leadership and motivate the team to reach operational excellence. Meanwhile, we expect you to continually challenge the status quo and existing performance levels, by exploring new ways of working and identifying ways in which we can improve our services for the residents of Buckinghamshire which is driven through the established Housing Improvement Board and Programme. Face the same financial pressures seen nationally around rising Temporary Accommodation costs and volumes. This role is key to helping us tackle this problem and develop short/medium/long term solutions to delivering Temporary Accommodation.
As a member of the Housing and Strategy Service Directorate Leadership team, you will contribute proactively to the collective leadership of the council, working collaboratively with Members, council services, partners, and stakeholders, to deliver the councils objectives and priorities.
You will be an excellent manager with experience of leading and managing a Housing function in a large public sector organisation bringing a collaborative and transparent approach to the role. You will support teams in housing which operate in a high pressure environment both in terms of volume of work, but also in the complexity of the issues those with housing insecurity face.
Partnership working will be key in this role, and you will need to be able to demonstrate a strong track record of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners. These include (but are not limited to) Adults Social Care and Children's Social Care at the Council, NHS, and other related charity sector groups. Almost all work undertaken in housing is done in partnership with other organisations and council teams. It is essential that the Head of Housing can take a strategic and proactive approach to work with others to deliver good outcomes for households and residents.
Naturally, you will have strong political acumen and be able to work closely with Members to deliver a shared vision. You will have a passion for supporting people and a drive to achieve the best outcomes for some of our most vulnerable residents facing housing insecurity and homelessness.
