One of my local authority clients within England are currently on the lookout for a Project Manager - Technical Support to join their team on an interim basis until the end of December 2025.

Contract Length: Until December 2025 (Likely March 2026)

Pay Rate: DOE
IR35: Outside
Start Date: December 2024
Hybrid Working: As and when needed in office, likely X1 day per month
This project is focused around separating the councils financial systems, purchase to pay, social care systems etc. from a shared system with different ledgers/companies onto their own.
This role will either be full time (X5 days per week) throughout the entire duration of the project or will be part time (likely X2-3 days per week) until around February/March time next year and will then become full-time (X5 days per week) throughout the remainder of the project thereafter.
After interviews the client will assess candidates experience and their skillset and will then discuss how this could be utilised in other service areas. If they feel that it could then they would be happy to offer full-time work (X5 days per week) from your start date in December. If not then as mentioned before it will likely be part-time (X2-3 days per week) until around February/March time next year and only then full-time (X 5days per week) thereafter for the remainder of the project.
Duties:
- Initial duties up until June 2025 will be speccing out the project work in advance, giving advice and making sure the spec is right with connectivity's to ensure the transition is well planned, upgrade of their financial system looking to be completed by June also.
- Following June the project focus will shift to running the project from a technical standpoint, separating systems, transferring data from shared systems with different ledgers/companies on to its own, holding shared services to account so they can deliver on the transition and separation.
Candidates must:
- This is very much more of a data transfer project than anything else however just as important as having a strong technical background is having the ability to liaise with key partners as this will be a complex project with multiple stakeholders.
- PRINCE2 is preferable but candidates must have previous project management experience within some form of local government setting.
- Have previous experience leading on similar Technical type projects with financial systems.
