Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Company Overview:
We are a prominent aerospace engineering company specialising in the development and manufacture of advanced rotor systems for both commercial and military aviation. As a leader in our field, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in rotorblade design and rotordynamics to join our talented team in Germany. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and optimisation of cutting-edge rotor technologies and shape the future of rotorcraft engineering.
Position Overview:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in our Rotor Systems team, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimisation of rotorblade components and rotordynamics. Your experience in rotor dynamics and mechanical design will be key to ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of our rotor systems. You will lead complex design projects, collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines, and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design and development of rotorblade components, ensuring high performance and compliance with aerospace standards.
- Conduct rotordynamic analysis to evaluate blade performance, stability, and vibration characteristics using advanced simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Nastran).
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, materials, and systems engineering teams to integrate rotorblade components into complete rotor systems.
- Manage design projects from concept through to manufacturing, including design validation and testing phases.
- Provide technical leadership to junior engineers, offering guidance and support on complex design and analysis challenges.
- Drive continuous improvements in design processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance rotor system performance.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure the successful production and integration of rotor systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in rotorblade materials, manufacturing techniques, and rotordynamic analysis.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, specifically in rotor systems, rotorblades, and rotordynamics within the aerospace industry.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Nastran). Strong knowledge of rotordynamics, vibration analysis, and fatigue behaviour.
- Project History: Proven experience leading rotor system design projects from concept through to production and testing.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex engineering challenges.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in aeroelasticity and fluid-structure interaction within rotor systems.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques specific to rotorblade production (e.g., composites, metal alloys).
- Familiarity with aerospace regulatory standards and certification processes (e.g., EASA, FAA).
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
