Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Converter Station Specialist

Location: Berlin (Onsite)

Project: SuedLink

Contract: 12-18 Months (Freelance/B2B)

Rate: Highly competitive

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of the electrical systems for converter stations on the SuedLink project.
  • Ensure the electrical designs and systems for the converter stations meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate all activities related to the electrical aspects of the converter station, including procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical solutions with civil and mechanical designs.
  • Drive innovations and improvements in electrical processes to increase efficiency and enhance the performance of the converter stations.
  • Implement Lean Construction and Digitisation strategies to optimise the electrical construction process.
  • Lead and manage an international, highly skilled project team to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification.
  • Extensive experience working on converter stations or similar electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong expertise in electrical systems design, installation, and commissioning for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems or AC/DC converter stations.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale electrical engineering projects, including cost, schedule, and quality management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Leadership qualities, with a focus on team management, motivation, and effective communication.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
