One of my local Government clients based in the South West of England are currently on the lookout for a Finance Business Partner to join their team on an interim basis

Finance Business Partner

Contract Length: 6 Months (likely to extend)

Location: South West England

Pay Rate: DOE

IR35: Inside.

Hours: 37

Start Date: ASAP

Hybrid working: Predominantly remote working. Ideally the successful candidate will be able to work in office periodically to catch up with the team or for key events. Ideally also the successful candidate will be able to work X1 day in office per week for the first month to get up to speed in the role.

The Finance Business Partner has full responsibility for providing an efficient and effective financial management service within their assigned service areas. This is a hands on and dynamic role, which involves providing sound financial advice, troubleshooting risk, assessing and challenging spending decisions as well as promoting best practice around financial management.

Successful candidates will ideally have local government experience in some or all of the following areas:

  1. Fixed Asset Register
  2. Capital Programme
  3. S106
  4. VAT
  5. RO / RA forms
  6. Reserves reconciliation
  7. Service support, most likely in Planning, Economic Develop area, but possibly Leisure could be beneficial.

Our Three Pillars of Training

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
