Job Opportunity - Financial Reporting Accountant - South East England
One of my local Government clients based in the South East of England are currently on the lookout for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join their team.
The council are in need of additional support to help with closing down their 24/25 accounts and preparing audit working papers for the audit of the 24/25 accounts.
Financial Reporting Accountant
Contract Length: 5-6 Months
Location: South East England
Pay Rate: DOE
Days: Ideally X3 days p/w (may be open to full time also)
Start Date: Beginning of March
Hybrid working: X2 days in office per week.
The role will include:-
- Supporting the closedown process for our revenue accounts
- Helping with our implementation of new accounting standards for leases
- preparation of the accounts - particularly the Comprehensive Income and Expenditure account, the movement in reserves statement, Collection Fund (with support from LGFutures), Expenditure and Funding Analysis and particular revenue related notes to the accounts
- Preparation of working papers for audit
- Liaison with and provision of information to auditors
- Completion of statutory returns such as the RO form
- Other financial reporting tasks as we may deem necessary
Successful candidates will:
- Be a Qualified Accountant (CIPFA, ACCA or ICAEW) - Will also accept candidates who are qualified by experience.
- Have experience working in a local authority on the closedown, statement of accounts and audit of the statement of accounts.
- Have a good knowledge of the CIPFA code of practice on local authority accounting in the UK and other guidance applicable to the sector.
