Freelance Project Engineer

Freelance Project Engineer - District Heating Project

g2 recruitment are seeking a highly experienced Freelance Project Engineer to join a major infrastructure initiative in the Netherlands. This project, which involves extensive pipelines and district heating networks, is entering a critical phase and will span approximately two years. The start date is planned for January, but flexibility may be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and stakeholders to address technical and logistical challenges, ensuring the project stays on track and meets key milestones
  • Provide expert guidance on material management, including procurement coordination and supply chain oversight, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project requirements
  • Review and implement minor design adjustments during the transition from the design phase to the construction phase to optimize project efficiency
  • Act as a liaison with local stakeholders to resolve issues such as de-watering and site-specific technical considerations
  • Oversee on-site activities, supporting the project team in the execution of construction activities while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
  • Work through the final investment decision (FID) and actively contribute to the construction phase, ensuring seamless continuity and alignment with project objectives

Requirements

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) working on large-scale pipeline and district heating projects or similar infrastructure initiatives
  • A strong background in Civil Engineering, though Mechanical Engineers with relevant expertise will also be considered
  • Proven ability to manage complex technical tasks, including detailed design reviews, construction support, and stakeholder management
  • Fluency in Dutch is essential, along with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of large-scale infrastructure projects with familiarity working in collaboration with established organisations in the sector is highly desirable

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.

His role involves teaching the consultants that are new to the company the foundations of recruitment and our systems before then helping them to upskill in areas specific to each consultant.
