Freelance Project Manager - Industrial Sustainability Project

Location: Netherlands (On-site)

Duration: 12 - 18 months

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee a large-scale industrial project in the Netherlands focused on sustainability and emissions reduction. The project involves the development of advanced technologies designed to minimise environmental impact in energy-intensive industries. This initiative is part of the country's broader efforts to support the transition to a low-carbon economy and reduce emissions from traditionally hard-to-decarbonise sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a complex, high-profile project with significant environmental benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership and Execution:
  • Lead the project through all stages, from initial planning to final execution, ensuring that key milestones are met within the agreed time, budget, and quality parameters. Coordinate efforts across multiple teams, including engineering, construction, and operations, to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Stakeholder and Reporting Management:
  • Regularly communicate with stakeholders to keep them updated on progress, risks, and project developments. Foster strong relationships with internal and external partners, ensuring transparency and alignment across the project.
  • Financial Oversight:
  • Manage the project budget, ensuring it remains within financial constraints while identifying opportunities for cost optimization. Provide regular financial reporting to senior management.
  • Risk and Compliance Management:
  • Identify potential project risks and proactively implement strategies to mitigate them. Ensure all regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements are met throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Scheduling and Resource Coordination:
  • Develop and manage the project schedule, ensuring that resources, personnel, and materials are effectively allocated to keep the project on track.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 5 years of project management experience, ideally within industrial, energy, or sustainability sectors.
  • Technical Knowledge: Experience managing large-scale projects with a focus on emissions reduction or sustainability technologies is a plus.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Strong leadership, organisational, and communication abilities to effectively manage teams and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Languages: Fluency in Dutch and English.
  • Industry Exposure: Experience in energy, manufacturing, or industrial sectors is highly desirable.

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
