Freelance Project Manager

Freelance Technical Project Lead - Pharmaceutical Equipment

Location: South Rotterdam

Start Date: ASAP (latest start is March)

Duration: 12-month contract (potential for extension)

I am currently seeking a Technical Project Manager for a client in the pharmaceutical industry based in the South Rotterdam area. The role involves leading CAPEX projects in the range of €1 million, with a primary focus (but not limited to) packaging and filling equipment used in pharmaceutical production lines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project leadership, vendor management, and implementing solutions for pharmaceutical equipment. This position offers a mix of office work (4 days/week) and remote work (1 day/week).

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead CAPEX projects (approx. size €1 million), from planning and design to installation and commissioning.
  • Manage the implementation of pharmaceutical equipment (such as packaging and filling), ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Experience with SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) to validate the installation and functionality of pharmaceutical equipment.
  • Ensure project milestones, budgets, and timelines are achieved.
  • Coordinate with engineering and construction contractors, providing clear direction and constructive feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain oversight of relevant IT/electrical requirements and ensure seamless integration of equipment into existing systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet operational and compliance needs.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in technical project leadership within the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Expertise in packaging and filling equipment for pharmaceutical production lines is essential.
  • Proven track record in managing CAPEX projects up to 2 to 3mln from inception to completion, including budgeting, scope, and delivery.
  • Strong network of existing relationships with pharmaceutical equipment vendors.
  • Familiarity with IT and electrical specifications related to pharmaceutical equipment integration.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills for managing stakeholders and contractors.
  • Dutch language skills are a plus but not mandatory.
