General Ledger Accountant

g2 Recruitment's client is a leading logistics firm based in Brussels, known for its dynamic operations and global reach. As the company continues to expand and enhance its financial processes, they are seeking a qualified and experienced freelance General Ledger (GL) Accountant with expertise in both IFRS and BEGAAP to join their finance team for a 12-month contract.

As a Freelance GL Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the general ledger and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records in compliance with both IFRS and BEGAAP standards. The role will involve working closely with the finance team, providing accurate financial reporting, preparing reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days per week on-site in the Brussels office, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Ensure the accurate and timely maintenance of the general ledger, including posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and performing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and BEGAAP. Ensure accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.
  • Month-End & Year-End Closing: Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reviewing financial data, preparing financial reports, and supporting auditors.
  • IFRS & BEGAAP Compliance: Ensure that all financial reporting and accounting processes comply with IFRS and BEGAAP standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a general ledger accounting role, with a strong understanding of IFRS and BEGAAP accounting standards.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar), with advanced Excel skills.
  • Language: Fluent in English; knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.
