Job Title: Industrial Design Engineer - Medical Devices

As we continue to expand our team, we are looking for an experienced and creative Industrial Design Engineer to join our dynamic team.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Industrial Design Engineer to contribute to the development of medical devices that enhance the lives of patients and healthcare professionals. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, product managers, and regulatory experts, to create user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and functional products. Your work will be at the intersection of design, technology, and healthcare innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Design: Lead the industrial design efforts for new and existing medical devices, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functionality.
  • User-Centred Design: Conduct user research to understand the needs of healthcare professionals and patients, and translate those insights into product design solutions.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Create prototypes to validate design concepts and work with engineers to refine designs based on feedback and testing.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with mechanical engineers, regulatory teams, and other stakeholders to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with medical device standards.
  • Design for Manufacturing: Ensure that designs are optimised for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing while maintaining high product quality.
  • 3D Modeling & CAD: Develop 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino) to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Support the creation of design documentation that complies with medical device regulations (ISO 13485, IEC 60601, etc.).
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, incorporating best practices into the design process.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in industrial design, preferably in the medical device industry. Experience with consumer electronics or other regulated industries is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD) and design visualisation tools.
  • Medical Device Knowledge: Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards (ISO 13485, IEC 60601, etc.) and experience in designing for compliance.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical, user-centred design solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and defend design concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Location: This position is based in Delft, and applicants must be eligible to work in the Netherlands.

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
