Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Munich. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and systems for medical devices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability.

Company Overview:

We are currently working with a leading medical device company in Munich that specializes in the design and manufacturing of advanced medical technologies. They are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in developing life-saving medical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design mechanical components and assemblies for medical devices in compliance with regulatory standards (ISO 13485, FDA, etc.).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conceptualize and refine product designs from ideation to production.
  • Conduct detailed mechanical design calculations, simulations, and analyses (e.g., FEA, thermal analysis).
  • Prototype and test designs, iterate based on feedback, and ensure manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, CAD models, and engineering reports.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and the development of validation plans.
  • Support the product lifecycle, from concept through to final manufacturing and post-market activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Catia V5, Siemens NX, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of medical device regulations, including ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.
  • Experience with simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar).
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience designing components for medical devices or healthcare technologies.
  • Familiarity with materials selection and thermal management in medical applications.
  • Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping and testing.
  • Knowledge of the product development lifecycle within a regulated industry.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
