Project Planner

Freelance Project Planner - Green Steel Project (Sweden)

Location: Sweden (on-site or hybrid depending on project phase)

Contract: Freelance / Contract (6-12 months, extension likely)

Start Date: ASAP or negotiable

Industry: Green Energy / Sustainable Construction / Heavy Industry

Project Overview:

Join one of Sweden's flagship Green Steel initiatives, focused on decarbonising steel production using hydrogen-based technology. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver a high-impact infrastructure project that supports Europe's climate-neutral goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and manage project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • Monitor progress vs. plan, report deviations, and advise on corrective actions
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
  • Assist in resource and cost loading schedules to support project controls
  • Support the client with risk analysis and mitigation planning
  • Produce and deliver weekly/monthly reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in project meetings and interface with contractors and suppliers
  • Ensure planning aligns with environmental and safety standards of green steel operations

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years' experience in project planning, ideally in industrial, infrastructure, or energy projects
  • Strong command of Primavera P6 or similar planning software
  • Familiarity with EPCM environments or large-scale industrial projects
  • Ability to work independently as a freelancer, managing own time and deliverables
  • Fluency in English (Swedish is a bonus but not essential)
  • EU Passport or Swedish work eligibility required

Our Three Pillars of Training

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.

Kane joined g2 in April 2023 as an Academy & Systems Trainer.

His role involves teaching the consultants that are new to the company the foundations of recruitment and our systems before then helping them to upskill in areas specific to each consultant. Working closely with different consultants and watching them implement the feedback, apply it, and then benefit off the back of it.
